Workshops

Workshops

Due to the situation concerning Covid-19, we are offering an alternative workshop program. Entry is possible only upon registration. You can do so by using the registration form, which is hanging next to the atelier door. Registering in advance or reserving a place is unfortunately not possible. A maximum of 5 children can be admitted per workshop and parents are unfortunately not allowed to attend the workshop. We ask you to stay at home if you have any coronavirus-related symptoms and, of course, to follow the government’s hygiene measures in the museum as well. This will enable us to work with all our visitors on ensuring that a visit to our museum is enjoyable and responsible.

Create your own tessellation

M.C. Escher was fascinated, maybe even obsessed, by tessellations. He could puzzle for hours, days and months on the many ways a plane could be filled with repetitive figures.

Would you like to try this yourself? Now you can. On Wednesdays during school holidays, we organize a special workshop in which you can make your own tessellation!

The following applies to the workshop

For: Adults and children
Number: Up to 15 participants
Time: Walk in from 12.30pm to 3.45pm
Costs: Admission is free for paying visitors
Location: Escher Atelier

Techniques

Techniques

Escher was a printmaker, but what exactly is that? Read the pages below to find out more about the techniques he used: woodcut, wood engraving, linocut, lithography, etching and mezzotint. Each of them has its own particular qualities, so the prints made using these techniques differ in terms of their complexity and visual character.
