Escher loved animals and shapes, and he enjoyed playing with reality. He brought this together using patterns in his prints. But how else can this be done? With Jing “Juice” Wang, you will learn to do cool, unique dance moves, led by a real rapper, you can create rhythm with words in your own rap, and with artist Inge Aanstoot, you will create a composition on paper. Surprise yourself with all your artistic talents!

Popping with Jing ‘Juice’ Wang!

Be amazed by dancer Jing “Juice” Wang's extraordinary performance! Inspired by Escher's fantasy animal Wentelteefje, you will discover the style of “popping”. Then join in yourself: Jing will teach you how to perform these powerful dance moves with great enthusiasm.
Jing discovered “popping” when he was 16 years old, developed a unique style and even became Dutch national “popping” champion five times. So come to Escher in Het Paleis and learn from a true master!

Workshop Rap


In a rap workshop by the Haags Hiphop Centrum, you will experience how rhythm is added to words. Led by rapper Djani, you will learn to rhyme and transform language into music. From funny to cool: anything goes. There is no right or wrong — everyone takes part in their own way. Would you like to perform your own rap in the Ballroom of the palace?
Djani is a versatile rapper and producer from The Hague who combines hip hop, Afro, soul, Latin and R&B into a unique, nostalgic sound. His music deals with themes such as love, personal growth and social issues, appealing to both old-school fans and new listeners. In addition to rapping, he produces his own music and continues to push his artistic boundaries with each release. His growing fanbase on platforms such as Spotify proves his emerging place in the music scene.

In the world of M.C. Escher, you can walk upside down on stairs and climb and descend endlessly... Is that actually possible? Find inspiration in Escher's wondrous prints and take part in our workshop “Create your own fantasy world”. Artist Inge Aanstoot will teach you how to make your own collage. Play, shuffle, mirror and create your own world on paper where anything is possible!
