2019 has again been a great year for Escher in The Palace. We are heading for a record of 170,000 visitors! An increase of more than 8% over last year.
In 2019, the focus was more on Escher in The Palace and less on Escher’s position in the world. 2018 was the year of the exhibition in the Fries Museum in Leeuwarden, the beautiful film Het oneindige zoeken (The infinite search), a remarkable interactive documentary and several international exhibitions. In 2019 the spotlight was set on The Hague. Visitors came in large numbers and we are therefore very proud to once again be able to report a record. The 2017 record was set at 153,000 visitors. 2018 saw an increase to 157,000. In 2019, Escher is heading for no less than 170,000 visitors. A growth of more than 8%. By expanding the educational programs, we have reached considerably more primary schools. We also look back on two very successful Museum nights. But Escher is not only popular with the Dutch public. The graphic artist is world famous and his reputation only seems to be increasing. In 2019, Escher was a favourite destination for international tourists.
We thank all visitors, partners and suppliers for their support and hope to welcome everyone back to our Palace in 2020.
On behalf of all employees, we wish you a Merry Christmas!
